How to Increase CRS Points for Canadian PR through the Express Entry Program?

Express entry is one the easiest way to move to Canada. To participate in the entry pool, you should have an excellent CRS score.

Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score is dependent on five significant factors which are aspirants age, educational qualification, language skills scores (measure through IELTS / TEF exam), job experience, and marital status. The CIC website (official website of the Canada Government) has a CRS calculator. There are also many registrar visa consultancy where you can find the CRS scores by entering your details. Through CRS score, you will know where exactly you are standing means there is a chance to get PR or not.

If your scores are low, then there is a chance to increase your CRS points. Just follow the following details –

  • If you have a sibling in Canada as a permanent residence or citizen and sponsor you for Canada PR, you can get an extra 15 points.
  • Apply the Canada PR through a provincial nominee program (PNP) to receive up to 600 CRS points.
  • Apply for Canada immigration with your spouse or common-law partner and make your spouse or partner as a primary applicant if he/she has a good score.
  • Improve your language skills score. IELTS, an English test exam requires to score a minimum of 6 in each section of reading, writing, speaking, and listening. To increase your CRS, you can improve your IELTS score up to 10 band which is maximum for a candidate, and it is equivalent to the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level of 9. In language skill section you can add up to 160 points as a single candidate and with spouse 170 points. If you have a sibling in Canada as a permanent residence or citizen and sponsor you for Canada PR, you can get an extra 15 points.
  • If you have two or more certificates, diploma, or degrees, then you can claim additional points under the Education section.
  • A job offer from a Canadian employer can get you 200 extra points.
  • If you have work experience in Canada for more than one years, it will be added extra points in your CRS score. International work experience rather than Canada it will also add advantage to your EE profile.
